Okay; so, you are talking about having the listing of file names by
file size be the view when any folder, etc. is opened (and the folder,
etc. does not have saved finder info)?
As far as I know, there is no Finder setting which will do that.
That is, if a folder has finder info recorded (e.g. in finder.data),
then, that info will determine the format. If no finder info for the
folder is available, then the format defaults to regular-size icons.
You can set the format for any given folder in the usual way; but,
you are not allowed to set Finder's default format.
A way to change the default would be to locate the place in Finder
code where Finder notices that there is no finder info and selects the
default format. You could swap in the parms (maybe just a byte or two)
for the default you like.
Maybe someone has a program (like a CDA or NDA) which lets you
fine-tune Finder in this way.
