Fidonet?
I used to email the WORLD on Fidonet. It would take forever and a
lopsided path, but it usually got there. My ISP who was recently
swallowed by another and they intern by a larger one, originated as a
BBS and carried Fidonet mail
Regards FrED mail: I am not familiar with it. Did it use one
centrally located server to redistribute? Other systems used BBS to
BBS transfer so a packet meant for say New York sent from Ithica might
go by way of Boston, LA, Tampa Billings and then on to New Delhi. Ya
just never knew...
The web and other internet stuff is cool, but it would be most
excellent to have a "Apple2 Underground" network too. Sort of a BBS-
mail- online thing operated on a intermitent, part time hobby basis,
accessable via everything from T1 (it would be nice to have a internet
bridge), to 300 baud.
just meandering....
