Gee, unlike some here, my 1st was not a Commodore or an Apple or even
an Altair. My first (and this dates me) was an IBM OS/360 model 65
with 2 megs memory and a bank of CDC 2314 Disk Drives (and a few real
IBM pizza ovens). I Learned DOS/VSE, BAL, and a Job entry Subsystem
originally developed by NASA named HASP for the Houston Automatic
Spooling Program. Heck on occasion we would even wire wrap a board to
fix a problem in the General Ledger routines ;) (for a 1401 if anyone
remembers those). This was literally a computer with the blinken
Lights!
I got into the Apple II in the late 70s, and dropped it going back to
the Mainframe days and ways. Then by way of disgust with the PC
(Windows), boredom with Linux (Red Hat really should have left well
enough alone), and other systems (but NETBSD has hooked me lately, I am
right now installing it on a Mac IIci), and a chance gift of
a Franlin Ace by a coworker, I got hooked. now, here I am and may the
Gods have mercy on me! ;-)
