Make that 1.5mb + the 171k. and yes it'd be enough to run GSOS. 1.5mb
is eniugh to run System 6.0.1and most IIgs applications. If you don't have a
hard drive though, System 5.0.4 might be a better choice as you can only fit
a very abreviated 6.0.1 on a floppy.

Your Brother-in-laws RamWorks II won't fit in a IIgs. However the 150ns
chips will work fine in your GS-RAM.
