SIS browser

I am using the SIS browser along with the developmental add-on which
allows web pages to be downloaded and displayed directly from TCP/IP,
without using a dialup shell account. While there are many pages it
doesn't handle, I can get it to display a number of fairly simple pages.
My question is about getting it to display foreign characters correctly.
If a foreign character is encoded using low ascii, for example à,
it handles it okay. But if a site has the actual high ascii character in
it, SIS displays the character dictated by the IIgs character coding
scheme. Since this is different that the standard that is used for most
international communications, the character is not displayed correctly. Is
there a way to force SIS to put such characters through a character filter
prior to displaying it?
