I think you are confusing "Microchannel" for "NuBus".  To some degree, NuBus
is documented in "Designing Cards and Drivers for the Macintosh Family 3/e",
so Apple was leaving the specification pretty wide open if you had to pay for
the privilage.  NuBus 90 is also described as ANSI/IIE Std 1196-1990, which I
am *assuming* means that it is not owned by Apple (p. 38 in forementioned
publication).  Finally, I recall reading that NuBus was originally desiged by
TI and not Apple.
