Re: What has changed in the Apple world last 6 months?

Hello, SuperTimer. We have missed you. The biggest change on this board is the
huge influx of new users, either by way of eBay purchases, or by resurrecting
Apple II computers that they owned, but had been placed aside. I am sure many
users would benefit from your knowledge, and I hope you stick around. For the
moment, most of the piracy discussions are quiet and few in number.

I completely agree with you about the PC. I love it, and find that I use it
much more than the Apple. My PC is a package deal, and while I am tempted to
tinker, I do not. At times I miss the flexibility of being able to instantly
lowercase a word, and other cute tools that you can do on the Apple II. I still
use my IIGS almost every day, but mostly it is to look for neat things to
upload and share on the web. I transfer Text and BXY files from the Apple II
the PC via CrossWorks.

The Apple II Mail Group continues its work of teaching and developing new
software, patches, and fixes for programs we already have. We are now
approaching our 1,000th group message digest. There have been many Y2K fixes
for AppleWorks (all versions), ProSel, Managing Your Money, Dollars and Sense,
and others. Alas, despite many hours and the efforts of people on this board
and on CompuServe, Quicken was never updated. Many of our updates and other
programs (including Bev's Free Patcher for AppleWorks 5, Randy Brandt's
programs, and many others) are freely available and have been uploaded to

This is only the tip of the iceberg, and more uploads will follow continuously
throughout the year as long as interference can be kept at bay.

The Apple II Mail Group discussed (at length), and finally agreed, that we
would begin to update any legal owner of AppleWorks or AppleWorks GS, ANY
version, to AppleWorks 5.1. We have just finished our first flush of updates,
and, lacking manuals for the most part, will start lessons soon (currently on
hold due to holiday commitments).

Again, welcome back and thanks for the opportunity to recap this year! I hope
you stay.
