The source of problems for PC appears to be, in part, the definition of a Text
line ender-- i.e. you have two characters: $0D $0A. When a (supposedly) Text file is
created, there is an attempt to make sure that known line enders for other systems
(e.g. just an $0D or an $0A) are valid for PC. So an $0D without an $0A or an $0A
without an $0D is 'repaired' and becomes $0D $0A.
If the Mac (running under whatever system) does not try to fix line enders,
then it would not much matter whether it is creating a Text file or a binary file.
