Not very likely as TTL chips are robust. 2. The card doesn't make proper contact with the slot. The things to try: 1. remove and insert the card a few times. Contacts may oxidize in 20 years. 2. Assuming the card is in slot 6, type call -151 c600l if this lists reasonable assembly, the card is it least visible to the CPU. If you get a lot of "???", it is not.The card is in slot 6 and when I tried the command I did get back what looks like assembly (first line is: C600- A2 20 LDX #$20). I'll try another slot and also cleaning the contacts although they are spotless already (this machine is in absolutely astonishingly immaculate condition).
Since this problem developed when you removed the card and reinserted it, it is reasonable to assume that the removal and reinsertion caused the problem. Since no one else has asked, I will ask: was power off when you removed and reinserted the card and disconnected and reconnected the duodisk? If power was on at any of these steps, that's a problem. Secondly, focusing on the card edge connector is one thing--the drive connector (both ends of the cable) is another. Are the connectors properly seated? Are all the pins straight? It would be quite unusual for a random failure to occur at the same time you are removing and replacing the card. Some Disk Controllers have one or more transistors that stick up and can have leads broken by wiggling back and forth.
