The media used for "quad density" drives should have the same formulation as
that
used for "double density" drives, since the recording method (MFM double
density, not high density) is the same. Presumably it is of slightly better
quality to allow for the doubled number (and narrower width) of the tracks
written by a quad density drive (which was, incidentally, a format available
on a very few PC and some non-PC systems prior to the widespread use of
1.2Meg HD drives on PC systems).
