Well, I have an example and a reason for this:
Apple ][ & Apple ][+ had very wierd layouts compared to PC's, so why not
map the apple keys to the pc's keys by mathcing the symbols. If they
hadn't
done this, I would forever be confused because i am more use to the pc
layout
then with the old apple layout... I just got an enhanced ][e and it is a
lot better
compared to my old ][+ mainly due to the keyboard layout...
