Jay Edwards, the Apple II, and "mythological posturing?"

<< Mr Edwards

I am contacting you again about the messages that you are posting on our
list server.

First - I did remove you from OACCList for due cause (and it was not a
violation of your first amendment rights) rather a violation of our list
protocol and improper usage of club assets.
I am here to tell you that you were not removed from the Apple II list,
but any more of this mythological posturing will be delt with by removal
from the Apple II list as well.
It is your choice to be a good citizen of this community or have the
appropriate action taken.

Dear American Civil Liberties Union:

Are the Rights of Free Speech and Freedom of the Press denied to members of a
club or denied to users of electronic media?

I don't mean to waste your time. You do important work, but this appears to
be your area of expertise. The "violation of our list protocol and improper
usage of club assets" seems to have been an email posting to raise and continue
a discussion concerning how club funds are spent when faced with rising
expenses. Mr. Foley doesn't have an issue with my vocabulary. I haven't used
any words that would make your mother blush.

He is limiting my communication because he doesn't like my ideas. He doesn't
see that as violating my Freedom of Speech or Freedom of the Press. I do.
Before this gets silly and ends of up in court doing no one any good, could you
offer an opinion?

Here is the issue:

The board wished to eliminate a founding portion of the club.

Two alternatives were suggested: eliminate the club's newsletter and/or
eliminate free dinners and lunches for board members.

For this the suggestor, I, had my email posting and receiving capabilities
restricted and, as you can see above, my remaining electronic link to club
members is being threatened to be eliminated based upon what someone else
thinks about what I have to say. I believe that "good citizen of this
community" means speaking out on what one thinks, even when threatened, and I
hope that the Bill of Rights agrees with me.

						Sincerely,
						Jay Edwards

P.S. Has the ACLU any experience defend someone accused of "mythological
posturing?"
