It is one of the most compatible CD-Rom drives: it works with the Apple
High-Speed SCSI card and the RamFast SCSI card; it also works with an
original Apple SCSI card, but only if you have firmware revision C.

In addition to being able to access data CD-ROMs, the computer is able
to control playback of audio CDs with this CD-ROM drive, using any of
the above three SCSI cards.  With the Apple cards, you can use Apple
Media Player or the CDRemote desk accessory.

The other CD-ROM drive models that fall into the "most compatible"
category are the Apple CDSC and Apple CD-150.  All three of these models
are 1x CD-ROM drives, so they aren't exactly fast.

The Apple CD-300 and later models changed the audio command set to
follow the SCSI-2 standard, which prevents the IIgs from controlling
their operation with audio CDs if you are using an Apple SCSI card.  The
drive should still work for data CDs.


As far as supported data CD formats are concerned: ProDOS CDs are no
problem.  You will also be able to access HFS and ISO-9660 CDs if you
are running System 6.0 or later with the appropriate FSTs installed.
