I have the same problem that you do. The popular fix under Windows 95 was to
run CrossWorks in Command-Prompt mode, but under Windows 98 I have found
that command-prompt mode works even worse than running from a Windows 98 DOS
box. But I have found a work-around:
There is a baud rate setting in the communications settings. Try running the
link 2400 baud, and I'll bet it will work. My setup is solid good at 4800
baud and is flaky at 9600. It totally does not work at 19200.
