Re: IIe Games That Don't Work on the IIgs
OSome updates:
A.E. - Found a crack that gets past the title screen (with graphics)
but the game reboots and crashes
Arcade Machine - Found working crack (is this game one or two sided?)
Cannonball Blitz - Found a working crack, but the graphics don't
update so the game is unplayable
Rescue Raiders - The crack I had was actually working, but the little
Sir Tech intro doesn't display. The game starts after that but
crashes as soon as the game screen with the helicopter is shown.
Might version 1.3 fix this? I can't find a .dsk file for it.
Robot Rascals - Found working crack
Wasteland - I found a way to get the game working. You need to make
copies using the games built in utility from a real set of disks, then
use the Wasteland Boot disk found in the asimov archive to boot the
game. When the game prompts you to insert your play disks, use the
disks you made earlier. Oddly the play disks in the archive or disks
I made from the boot master wouldn't work, only the ones I made from
the real disks.
Zorro - Found working crack (Zorro alt 3)
Star Blazer - Found working crack
Mr. Do - Found working crack
Spy's Demise - Found working Crack
Shamus - Found working Crack
Impossible Mission - Found a crack that didn't have the graphics issue
Repton - Found a working crack
Moon Patrol - Found working crack
Super Boulder Dash - Found working crack
Russki Duck - Found working crack
Realm of Impossibility - No luck with the crack in the archive, but I
found this note on a webpage that leads me to believe it's possible:
Jack R. Nissel (COMPUTIST #56, page 20):
Realm of Impossibility DOES work on the Ilgs,
it’s EA’s protection routine that does not. See
COMPUTIST #50, page 20 and also
COMPUTIST #49, page 16 for infomtation on
how this is done. A salesman friend has asked
me to crack several EA programs for him
because a customer couldn’t get them to run on
a Hgs. However, the cracked versions run just
fine. Keep in mind: there is a second disk check
at $569 (and $5F8 or $5FE) that should be
looked into. Some of the EA programs need the
JMP $569 to shut the disk drive off at the end
of a disk read, so I edit the calls to $5F8 (or
$5FE)
