Send Ascii to COM

Hi,
I use an application that prints periodicaly some data to image writer II.
The printer does't work anymore, so I decided to write a Win Application to
capture the data with a PC. The problem is that the apple sends data that is
not in the ascii form. Is there any apple application that stands between
applications and printers and sends ascii? Is there a generic driver that
can send to a non apple printer? If there is then I suppose that I can print
ascii to this printer or a file, or capture the port. Is it possible to
print to a file? Do you have any suggestions?
