based on your description the broken pin is pin 1 (VP) which is an
output signal from the CPU and is connected to the FPI.
The signal is used to indicate that the CPU is getting a vector
address (IRQ, Reset, NMI etc.) from ROM.
With this prin broken it may well be the cause of your problem.
