Re: IIe Games That Don't Work on the IIgs
Testing is going well. I'm about half way through my non-original
(i.e. cracked) games with about an 90% success rate. I'll make a big
list of what worked and what didn't (and how it crashed) this
weekend. Games seem to have one of three problems:
1. They start to boot and crash to a monitor program (* prompt). This
is the most common problem.
2. The game won't boot at all with a Check Startup Device message.
This isn't nearly as common.
3. Game loads but has graphical issues (missing graphics, graphics not
updating, etc.). This is the least common
I'm hoping to test the ones that aren't working with a real disk card
to see if that fixes the problem (ala Drol). Failing that I'll try a
different crack and see if that works. Oddly enough one game that
refused to work on my IIe (Lock n Chase) works just fine on the IIgs.
I assume this is a Duo Disk issue and not a IIgs/IIe issue.
A little off topic, but does anyone have a good working .dsk image of
Lode Runner? I lost my original and the ones I can find either crash
(even on my IIe) or say they're actually a data disk. Championship
Lode Runner worked just fine so I can't see why Lode Runner wouldn't
work.
