Hi,

    Unfortunately, while most of us Apple II users know "Lynx" and
"Pine" or other shell stuff, most "normal" users these days are weened on
Netscape and IE.  Imagine telling old grandma or grandpa how to use a
shell account for email/web!  

    The problem is most ISP's are centered toward normal users (just ask
the one I work for!)  And most normal users don't know what shell accounts
are. So, why waste money with shell accounts?  The problem with that
mentality is that most of us who used shell accounts are left out!

    The funny thing is that most of the stuff on the Net is unix based and
so a shell is still necessary.  It seems to me that shell accounts are in
the domain of the "techies" rather most normal users.  

    Oh by the way.....I got so tired of using Netscape for newsgroups and
hotmail for email, i downloaded "PC-Pine" to my computer.  Thus,
volia......back to the old days of text access for email and news.  :)  I
have to use my ISP for email, which is a tough prospect, but using Pine
again is enough to make me smile.  :) :)  ---> see what I mean :)
