ProTerm problem-No login prompt after connection

Here is are the specifics.

I can successfully dial and hear connection noise at 2400 with "US
Robotics" modem installation. Once apparantly connected, displayed below
the status bar, I see "Connected 2400" or something to that effect. This
is the sole text displayed. I don't get a prompt. Please help! I would
appreciate any positive feedback.

P.S. The emulation was set to vt100 and vt52. I used 8N1 and full
duplex. I have tried other modem installations such as Hayes, but they
don't give me touchtone dialing noise or connection sound.
