Well, that's nice and all, but ISPs that offer shell accounts are getting
more difficult for people to find. They're being phased out because they're
getting harder to maintain, and few people use them anymore. (Or so my ISP
told me, when they discontinuted my shell access.)

Someone else mentioned getting an x86 machine, running a shell on it, and use
your Apple as a terminal off of that. In my opinion, you may as well just use
the x86 to access the internet, instead of going through the effort of
hooking up the Apple to it.

I can see only two other options:

Set up a series of BBSs that would give access to this newsgroup, and
possibly have PD/shareware programs for download.

OR

Get someone to write software for an Apple // to access the internet using
TCP/IP protocols. Yes, I know, Marinetti does this already, but you need a GS
for that. What about the 8 bit machines, which are more numerous?

I'm not going to hold my breath for either one.
