Are you trying to tell me that the work on my hard drive is copyrighted even
though I haven't registered a copyright??? Cool! Now for the small but fatal
flaw.
The Copyright law states "fixed in a tangible medium". Since we're taking
things to the "letter of the law", let me be very semantic. The only
software that is "fixed" on its medium is CDROM/DVD-ROM software and
firmware on non-reprogrammable ROMs. All other mediums are mutable. As such,
the letter of the law doesn't support software on tape, floppy, Zip, LS-120,
HD, CDRW, DVD-RAM, EEPROM, Flash ROM, etc... I know that's a low blow, but
lawyers are known to go even lower. ;-)
