Are there any modern hard drive options for the III other than the super-expensive X/Profile board? I have several MicroDrives, so I was hopeful that there might be a driver, but Google didn't turn up anything.
I've got to say I have not paid much attention to this group lately. All I've done is read the headers. I should ask what sort of networking options are there for the III? A cheap NAS (eg. FreeNAS on a spare PC) would be way more than adequate. The speed of the computer would be slower than the transfer speed of a LAN. The only catch is the networking would have to be something in the list of the dozen or so protocols supported by FreeNAS.
The other option would be to see if it would be possible to bring over the USB stuff from the II to the III. Then IF they have the hard drive stuff working, you just have to pick up a cheap external drive.
These solutions are probably not feasible. If they are then they might be worth considering.
