zip gsx newbie help

I need help with a Zip GSX card.
1) the board to CPU cable has a missing pin 40 and I need to know if it's
suppose to have the pin, or not.
2) if it is suppose to have a full 40 pins .... has anyone tried making a
cable with a 40-pin flat cable socket thing (from Jameco), and an IDE cable?
The Jameco cable "thing" I'm referring to takes 28 AWG (?) flat ribbon cable
and you squeeze it .. that kind. The IDE end seems to fit perfectly.
If it is suppose to only have 39 pins then I've got more trouble because the
machine wouldn't boot up.
