Re: Transfering Apple IIGS disks via OASIS
It is possible to transfer files this way but in the case of one or
two files, it might be easier to use a term program and transfer
them as archived files. Assuming of course that you have an Apple II
communication program.
It is possible to connect the GS and a PC via null modem and SSC. I
have yet to try this with the built in port, but I expect it will
fail like the 2c does. Some things to verify, both port settings must
match. I use 19200, 8n1, no parity, hardware flow control. On the
Windows system, set these from the System panel found in the Control
panel. If you have verified all the settings and it still doesn't
work for you, try turning off the interrupts on the SSC (or on if
they are currently off.)
BTW, just to make sure, I tested this on my ROM 3 and could see both
HDV images I have connected in slot 5.
Oasis hint of the month: Did you know that you can fool Prodos on
Apple Oasis into using an 800k HDV as a 3.5 disk drive. To do this,
you can only have 800k disk images in the slot (either one or two.)
Prodos will treat them as the dumb 3.5 disk. This is great for
unshrinking those 800k disk archives.
