I read everything on a2central.com. Are you talking about this item?
Begin - fair use quote from the a2central.com website follows:
"On Saturday, July 29, 2000, ///SSH Systeme announced the LANceGS cardthe
first
true ethernet interface card ever released for the Apple II. While Joachim
Lange
of ///SSH Systeme couldn't be present at KFest, he asked Eric Shepherd to
present information about the card. A card that was shipped to Avila College
for
demonstration purposes did not arrive in time to be demoed. Instead,
photographs
were shown, and some preliminary specifications were listed.
The card will sell for around $199 US, although pricing has not yet been set.
Considering the small market, this is an excellent price point.
Product specifications, in summary:
10 Mbit ethernet card with 10Base-T connection. Hardware compatible with Apple
IIGS or Apple IIe (enhanced). A Marinetti link layer is provided, allowing
TCP/IP connections to the world via the ethernet.
Works in any slot except 3. Easy-to-use configuration and test software is
included. Nonvolatile on-board memory saves configuration data, so no
configuration file is needed.
Four LED indicators for card access, link OK, data transmit, and data receive.
Small, low-power design: only 100 mA peak usage. High quality PCB with
surface-mount technology and a gold edge connector ensures a quality product.
System Requirements
The LANceGS card will require an enhanced Apple IIe with ProDOS 8 or an Apple
IIGS with System 6.x and a 1 MB memory expansion card, as well as one 800K
floppy drive.
There are currently no applications (or even complete drivers) for the Apple
IIe, but they will be available eventually.
You'll also want an ethernet network (or at least one other machine with an
ethernet port) to plug into.
What You'll Get
The package includes the card itself, a small adapter card that lets you plug
in
a standard RJ-45 10Base-T cable, and an adapter cable to connect the two cards
together. Also provided is the required software, the manual (which may not be
available in early shipping of the cards), and a 30-day money back guarantee,
if
not satisfiedno questions asked. The guarantee of course doesn't cover
shipping
costs.
Coming Soon
The LANceGS card is expected to ship in mid-August...."
End of fair use quote.
This doe seem to cover the needs for an A2 Ethernet card for support with the
Marinetti link
layer that is provided, allowing TCP/IP connections to the world via the
ethernet. So, with this
NEW A2 ethernet card - when a complete drivers for the Apple IIe are eventually
provided,
and the other three A2 ethernet card projects to support most all of the Apple
II machines
in the works - I'd say the A2 community will soon have all the ethernet cards
they could ask for!!
Cheers,
Tom
