Maybe you're right, a magnet doesn't stick to it, though it does stick to a
PC mouse ball I tried. I don't want to sacrifice an Apple mouse to find
investigate further, though.
I've dropped mouse balls on the floor various times, with lead I think you'd
be risking denting it. Then there is the toxic aspect... maybe it's zinc!
