The Strength of a Community

I wouldn't put myself in the camp of either the Turlettes or the Vogons. My
alliance is the Apple II family of computers. The rest of you can all go
hang. In that spirit, don't expect me to reply to any flames for this post.

What I would like to point out though, in this whole sickening mess, is that
*no other* antique computing community could behave this way and still
survive. For example, every Commodore 64 fanatic I know feels a certain
clan-like alliance and protectiveness toward every other C64 die-hard. They
seem to understand that their favourite antique can't really survive without
loyalty and cooperation between its modern-day followers.

I'd like to put a better face on the infighting in csa2 by looking on it as
a measure of strength. The Apple II has seen 10 years come and go. And if,
despite the bickering, it can still enjoy the level of popularity that it
does, and see excellent new products like Marinetti developed, if KFest is
still a reality... then I'll bet we'll see at least another 10 years.

Apple II Forever!
