Re: Power supply repair
I did that 7 or 8 years ago when I towerized a IIe. In this case it's
a spare power supply I acquired with a couple of van loads of Apple II
stuff. I ran the repaired power supply for 24 hours with no issues.
Strangely I was using a IIgs yesterday when I heard a pop and smoke
was pouring out the vents in the power supply. The IIgs kept running
but I shut it down as quickly as possible. Opened up the power supply
and found a small bulging capacitor. Found a replacement from a junk
board and soldered it in.
I guess in the next decade or two a lot of people will likely have to
consider either a Buggie power supply or rebuilding the original one.
Lot of caps in the apple power supplies.
