Yes, they would. A few years ago, several collectors routinely bid $100 on a
$10 item just to be sure they got it. Then they got bid up real high and had to
pay the prices, or default. It happened to one of my auctions. I took pity on
the kid and let him have the stuff for his last bid before somebody bumped it
to unreasonable heights. It was his fault for bidding $100 in the first place.
Don't do it. It's bad for the seller and it's really bad for the buyer.
