If the card is in slot5 and requires no initialization, that would
work. You would get no output to the screen, so you would type and the
text would not appear on the screen.
The card may output "KATE" instead of CAT because of it's lack of
knowledge of pronunciation rules. Probably not with the word CAT, but
with others it will definitely be hard to understand. SKI= SKY
Some of the speech boards require an initialization charachter to be
sent before the card turns on.
Also, the board will only output to the Apple Speaker if there is a
connection between the Echo board and the Apple Speaker.
