I guess it depends on whether you need them at the present time. I have
several
sealed Applied Engineering boxes. I don't need the card at the present time so
I
have no real need to open the box. If for example I ran short of clock cards I

wouldn't hesitate a second to pull a Timemaster II out of a sealed box.
About two years ago I picked up a couple of shrinkwrapped RamKeepers and
since I was concerned about the lead  acid gelcell inside I immediately opened
them.
I was amazed that the gelcells still held a fairly good charge after being
sealed up
for 10 years.
