Technically, Apple Oasis is the best 8 bit as far as function.
It may not be the best for everything. It is a Windows program
and as such, the graphics aren't quite right. It has a full
screen mode which requires the older Direct Draw 3 and may not
function for many. I'm sure this will be fixed though.
For game play, I like ApplePC. It's full screen modes work well
and it can handle most 128k programs. For the real serious
programs, you may notice a keyboard bug. It tends to randomly
return the last char typed in stead of the actual key typed.
Appler is pretty good for II+ stuff. The output isn't quite
right, but it has a neat disassembler screen. Too bad it's not
an enhanced system with 128k.
AppleUni is very realistic video text. It is a II+ system with
HD access. It's control screen is graphics oriented and rather
different to use. One feature, will run on any x86.
Applewin. great for quick games in Windows. I prefer Oasis.
XGS32 Working GS emulator. Stability improved by Steve Mentzer
recently.
That's pretty much all for the MS PC. For Linux, use Kegs, it's
great. There is a II+ system which works ok for games but I have
not used it in awhile.
