Well Jeff, you just asked a million dollar question. There are
many and everyone has their favorites. Some great ones are
already mentioned but your decision really depends on how
you work.
I prefer ECP8. It is command line oriented and allows me to
perform many other functions if I need to. For a programmer
I find it's a really useful system. It can handle system,
binary, basic and it's own script (batch style) files. Someone
mentioned Davex, it is another command line system which can
be very useful and I may have stuck with it except I started
out with ECP8 first. I like the open apple keystroke functions
such as <OA><1> for catalog. These are customizable too.
On the other hand, if you simply set the Prodos (latest version)
disk to have no .System files to run, Prodos will exit to it's
internal file launcher. It's a nifty version of Byrd's Better
Bye which set the standards for several BYE routines when it
was introduced (for Appleworks I think.)
