Re: The Apple II Mail Group
Ok, I don't know for sure where you live, but Usenet doesn't
tend to follow the rules of government anyway. In this case, or
any similar circumstances, our intelligence should win out and
control our lack of judgment.
If this were an item one purchased, I might be able to
understand the condemnation and ridicule of another person. It
is not though, it is (was) a free service provided by Bev, of
her own free will and time. From the reactions here, she might
as well not bothered with it.
'Queen Bev'? In this case, you may be right. It is her skill,
time and effort, so it belongs to her and can be handled any
way she wants, just as any queen has the right to treat her
possessions.

Yes she did, and while it saddens me to see it happen, I know I
have no right (or reason) to complain. She sent me copies of
the MG, edited in her own time, mailed using her own time and
asked nothing from me, but simple contribution of my skills or
knowledge. This is the same as was asked of any other reader. It
was assumed (perhaps incorrectly) since the MG was a free
service, there would be no reason for anyone to 'pirate' it. I
don't quite agree with her reasons for not wanting copies of it
stored anywhere for public access, but I respect her right to
expect readers to not distribute it. As long as I have known
about her, she has always been clear about this.
Perhaps, she has overreacted at times, but it is still her
effort which made the MG available and so, she has that right.
Just the same as I would have the right to restrict access to
any software or MG or news letter, etc which I produce.
Perhaps I have the wrong perspective, but I try and contain my
ridicule of others. I hope I am a better person than that. Just
as I hope the rest of the Apple II world is also, but I know
this is not true just from many of the messages I read here.
