It's good to see that Tom is going to offer a complete System 5.0.4.
Still, the disk on USA2WUG is a pretty nice version-- ref. file Sys504sdk.bin
at ...
http://www.grin.net/~cturley/USA2WUG/SystemSoftware/ .
It even includes the FST's for HFS and DOS 3.3 (as recommended by
Supertimer). About the only major missing component is AppleTalk, something
most IIgs users do not need (or want). If this is the disk you are using, you
will not easily find a better setup for System 5.0.4 on a 1.25MB system.
As for System 6.0.1 being too large for your IIgs, this depends upon the
software you run. System 6.0.1 takes up more space-- about 850k when a medium
install is booted from a single diskette (vs. about 600k for System 5.0.4);
but, you do get a better OS.
If you would like to try System 6.0.1, a single-disk version is
available on USA2WUG as a whole-disk ShrinkIt archive at the above URL.
Sys601forR1sdk.bin is for a ROM-01 IIgs and Sys601forR3sdk.bin is for a ROM 3
IIgs.
