Well, I've been promoting my products on my web site since 1993, when I set
up my first web site on my account at the University of California in Santa
Barabara (ah, the heady days of http://cs.ucsb.edu/~sheppy).  I quickly
moved on.

I haven't participated much in csa2 the last few years because I was
severely personally wounded by a number of unpleasant confrontations here,
and decided that it wasn't worth any possible benefit to stick around.  I'm
hoping that this time things will be different.  I'm going to try very hard
to stay out of the way of any disputes here, even going to the lengths of
pushing down any annoyance I might ever feel (posting while annoyed is a big
mistake :).

We'll see how it goes.
