I've never understood why someone would want to use a Web-based message
board when we have newsgroups and mailing lists. Message boards are slow,
can only be used online (a problem if you have only one phone line or
live in a country with metered phone service), need a Web browser, and
are nowhere as flexible as the alternatives: one cannot use scorefiles
on a Web board, or do a full-text search on past messages, or use a
full-featured editor to compose messages.
