NON-SONY 3.5 DRIVES FOR IIGS
============================
I have a platinum 3.5 drive and an AE 3.5 drive connected to my flagship
Rom 3 IIgs, and they both work perfectly. Recently, I got two other
non-branded 3.5 drives that appear to have the same "guts" as the AE
drive. The AE drive is special because of its red/green LED that shows
writing vs. reading.
This mechanism differs from the Sony drive used in all 3.5
Apples" lighweight, unique sound on eject, slower disk eject rate, manual
nonmotorised intake of disk. But it works just as well as the Sony
drives. Does anyone have impressions of this distinctive 3.5 drive
mechanism? Have never looked inside the case because these drives have
never needed cleaning or other maintenance!
