If he has access to earlier versions of Windows, I suggest using
the Windows 3.1 telecomm program. It is much simpler.
I also suggest checking the actual port settings in the system
available via control panel/system. Sometimes these will not
match the term program. From here, set flow control to xon/xoff
and not hardware.
