ADT does not work with the modem port on the IIgs, you would need the SSC card
in your IIgs for that.  ADT-GS has transfer capability _to_ the gs only for
making disks.  If you want bidirectional transfers using ADT, then put the SSC
card in slot 2 and use regular ADT.

The Second Sight card allows you to use a standard PC monitor.  This has great
advantage for LARGER more readible output.  The disadvanage the the second
sight is that it doesn't support double hi-res screens (or so I've heard.)

IIgs slots as I'd do it.
Slot and card
1 - AE PC Transporter
2 - SCC card
3 - Second Sight SVGA adapter card
4 - GS Accelerator Card
5 - reserved for 3.5" drives
6 - 5.25 floppy drive controller card
7 -
Aux slot - AE RAMcard 6.5 MB

There are two types of Apple IIgs, Rom1 and Rom3 it tells you on the start-up
screen which one you have.

If you put a card into the IIgs, be sure to set the slot to 'your card' in the
control panel so that it may be accessed properly.  It should be known that it
is usually an either/or situation with the ports/slots, not both.  For example,
you can use the printer port OR you can use a card in slot 1, not both.  In the
system above, if you have the control panel slot 1 set for 'printer' the PC
transporter will not function.  If you have a printer attached to the printer
port and the slot is set to 'your card' then the printer will not run.

1- is the printer or appletalk port. Assuming Rom1- if slot 7 is 'appletalk'
and this slot is 'your card' then this port is appletalk and the slot is active
for your card.  On a Rom 3 you would set the control panel directly to
'appletalk' instead of 'your card'.
If you are using neither a printer or Appletalk, put the PC Transporter here.

2- is the modem or appletalk port. Assuming Rom1 - if slot 7 is 'appletalk' and
slot 1 is 'printer' and slot 2 is 'your card', the modem port is the appletalk
port. On a Rom3 you would set the control panel directly to 'appletalk' instead
of 'your card'.  FYI It has been stated that IIgs software can see the modem
port hardware directly regardless of the slot setting in the control panel, but
most communications software will need it to be set to modem port it to work.
Place your SSC card here for bidirectional ADT transfers.  (I have SSC here and
modem on the port and change the control panel as necessary for ADT or modem
software to access the appropriate device.)

3- reserved for the video firmware
Use the second sight here so you may use a standard PC monitor.

4- reserverd for mouse firmware,   Leave this set to mouse port in the control
panel or else your mouse will plain stop working in a Rom1.  A Rom3 should
still see the mouse from GSOS programs even when set to 'your card' but ProDOS
will not.
This is a great place for accelerators as most only draw power from the slot.

5- this slot is reserved for the onboard 3.5" floppy disk controller.  If you
plan on hooking up a 3.5" drive to the drive port on the IIgs, leave this slot
empty.

6- this slot is reserved for 5.25" unidisk type drives on the drive port of the
IIgs.
If your floppy drives are not the daisy chain db19 connecting type, use the
5.25" drive controller in this slot.

7- this slot is reserved if you are using appletalk
Drop your PC transporter card here to utilze it if slot 1 or the printer port
is in use.

As others have pointed out, some of these cards tend to draw alot of power.
You may want to put a higher output power supply in and get some cooling
happening inside your IIgs.  (Get a system saver and buggie external power
supply.)
