Actually that�s not quite correct.
If the drive stops spinning when you just pressing reset instead of
Control-reset then that doesn�t actually indicate much of anything.
On the Apple IIs with the keyboard encoder there�s a switch that
lets you choose between having to use Control-reset or just reset.
In fact the IIe & IIc have a set of solder pads on the underside of
the keyboard to allow you to set them up so you only have to use
Reset.


If the Apple II, reguardless of which one he has, starts the floppy drive
spinning on startup then that indicates he has an Autostart ROM. It could
be on a lanuage card or wherever, doesn�t matter. On any Apple II with
an Autostart ROM doing a Control-Reset will put you into basic not the
monitor.
