And why is that?  I use Corel Photopaint, a competitor to Adobe
Photoshop, to scale and convert the bit-depth of my images
BEFORE I send them to the IIGS to get converted with either
SuperConvert 3 or Prism (the two IIGS conversion programs I
own).

Using the originating computer to preconvert the pictures will
usually generate better results because you can use the very
powerful features of these professional level image manipulation
programs.
