The Southern Christians in the US were universally either democrat or didn't
vote on principle. They felt voting was part of the world of man, not God. When
the federal government began telling them they could not pray in school and
that theie children would receive sex education against their parents will,
they turned to the Republicans who had always supported States Rights issues
and the rights of individuals over the demands of the federal government.
Unfortunatly, the Repubs have been stuck with these looneys ever since. Main
problem is they are not real conservatives in the old sense or time when
Republicans were called "Classical Liberals".

Hardly up to the standards of the Left -- Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot,
Ethiopia .....

The NEA union runs the schools despite the efforts of the religious community.
I was raised a Calvinist and evolution was not taught in school yet I am a
scientist and suspect there is something to evolution. Don't know exactly what
since we don't have time machines, but there is plenty of evidence. Recall the
cries that we must have computers in the schools. There were none when I was in
school yet I design computers. Obviously they place too much emphasis on the
value of our ridiculous public school system.

Harmless. Philosophically confused and quite harmless. Hated by Hollywood and
charicaturized as evil, but harmless.

Yes, the unfortunate result of "a sensible middle ground".

PS. According to a new report, American doctors accidentally kill 700,000
people a year. Thats the accidents! So, physicians are 9,000 times more
dangerous than gun owners. 80,000,000 gun owners and 1,500 adcidental deaths a
year.
