I can very well understand your situation if you're trying to get as
much Apple II software as possible reclassified as PD: there is so
much of it! Which really makes it even more sensible to try to
"release" as much as possible of it all, rather than rewriting it
all from scratch....

BTW someone mentioned here that writing a new program which mimics an
older program is illegal too. Which makes me wonder: doesn't that
make all Apple II emulators illegal? They do have a lot of the
"look-and-feel" of the original Apple II (a copyrighted product),
don't they?
