URGENT HELP NEEDED! G4 and SCITEX Scanner problems....

Hello,

We have a new 450 MHz G4 which we want to connect a Scitex Smart 342L
professional scanner to.

Scitex have told us to buy a FORMAC PCI SCSI card (which uses a 16bit 68 pin
connection) and update our Smart software to version 2.20 (we had version
1.1.3 before).

Basically the card works and the software seems to install on the G4 ok, but
the software just can't communicate through the PCI card to the scanner (via
an adpator to convert 68 pin SCSI into 50 pin). External hard disks work
fine through this PCI card, so why not the scanner?

If there is anyone out there, perhaps in a design office, who is
successfully using a G4 with the Smart 342L scanner (or any other "old"
scanner which needs a SCSI connection), perhaps they would e-mail me to
suggest a solution to getting this setup working.

Otherwise we will have to resort to using the scanner connected to an old
9500 and transfer the scans to the G4 via a network.

Curse Apple for ditching SCSI!! Curse Scitex for having no idea whether
their software can work with G4 and system 9.04!!!!
