I LOVE the apple II.

I Hate You.

Why do I love the Apple II?
When I was in elementary school, my Dad being a teacher at another
school, every summer, Easter or Christmas holiday would bring home an
Apple //e, with an ugly floppy drive, and an even worse tree green
monochrome monitor and a bunch of MECC software.  I fell in love.  I
learned how to program AppleSoft Basic.  I went down to the Public
Library, got some books.  I BLOAD-ed a little program on my Apple DOS
3.3 system disk.  Typed in CALL -151.  And looked around.  I learned
how a hex 20 jump was different from a hex 40 or hex 60 jump (I'm
working from memory here).  I wrote my own little word processor.  It
was mostly Applesoft.  It BSAVE'd screen images to disk, it was
primitive, it was lame, it was all those things YOU are now, then.
I gave it a neat menu; I wrote a little module that made it so I could
copy a DOS 3.3 disk, it looked just like CopyIIPlus's bitcopy.  Just a
PEEK'n and a POKE'n.  I had fun.  I loved playing Addition Logician,
and Oregon Trail, I was 5 maybe 6 years old.  I still have some of
those old games today.  Yes, I had already broken the law; seems the
software was released under an Educational Licensee.  I played
shoot'em up games that a friend of my mom gave me.  I KNOW they were
pirated, heck a DD floppy and COPYIIPLUS go a long way.  Truthfully, I
thought they were crap.  I formatted over them in no time.  If I had
the chance to do it over again, I would have kept them, just so I
could flood this group with worthless disk images, driving you NUTS.
But, I really loved the MECC games.  I've seen a few around on the
Net.

Now, let me tell you a story about MECC.  Seems they're gone with the
wind.  Property of TLC; The learning company.  Who till this day milks
the Oregon Trail, and the Alaska trail, and the trail to heaven...,
and the trail to hell...  I guess that's where you'd say I'm going.
TLC will never give up the copyright or 'Reclassify' the wonderful
Oregon Trail.  They sell a virtually 0% original code version for the
Mac or PC.  They're going on eBay for about five cents as I type this
message.

I love the Apple II.  I'm a IIgs nubie, a ProDOS nubie, a SCSI nubie,
certainly a GSOS nubie.  I can look foreward to many friendly people
answering my questions about this II and that II.

I still hate you.  Also, what kind of a moron uses an anonymous news
post server, but uses the same name on eBay where the looking up of
email addresses is as common as a child with a bed wetting problem in
a great an pure, non pirating American family.

I got into this flame war, because I felt like pissing you off for a
day or two.  I only piss on people who piss on themselves.  It's
senseless to argue with you.  Why argue with you when I don't care
what you say anyway.  It's as if what you really want is my mailing
address so that you can send me a bunch of Scientology and "the meek
shall make monthly payments on the earth" crap.

Fifty years ago you would have been castrated under very common mental
defect law.

I've never looked at delphi dot com, from the way it's been described,
I probably never will.  You call me a pirate.  Do you want to know
what a pirate is?  Go onto us.undernet.org, into maybe #cablewarez or
#mp3tunes, or #warez4u or #warez, or #mp3 or whatever.  Please spout
off about the immorality of what they're doing and watch them
shit-list your ass like yesterday's news.  Don't bullshit me as if I
was the scum of the earth.  I don't have appleworks, I certainly don't
need applworks gs.  I once used AppleWorks on a IIe with a duodisk
drive, I thought it was pretty nifty.  I don't know where to pirate a
copy of AWGS, and I don't want to pirate a copy of AWGS.  I guess
someone's still trying to make money off it.  Might just be able to
afford a Slurpy, or a Double Expresso, or an extra gallon of gas on
the way to work every Monday morning.  Where whoever this person is,
goes and works a REAL job, for REAL pay, to support a REAL family.
You on the other hand probably get a cheap welfare check (or do you
pump gas?) every Wednesday, to go out and support a cheap drug
habit...

I have nothing but respect for the great programmers of the Apple II,
may they productively rest in peace.  God forbid that I should ask the
community to help me out with anything that doesn't involve a
soldering iron or a money order.

I part in good terms to those who truly love the Apple II, and then
there is Quantum Cat, up yours prick.
