Dead battery.  Try looking for a Mac LC battery in any computer
store supporting the Mac.  The IIGS uses the same type of
battery.  Open the IIGS case.  The battery is in a holder next
to the power supply.  Take the old battery out and put the new
one in.

Your control panel settings will no longer be forgotten with the
new battery in place.
