     Blue, at least, is a color. If you get only blue-- i.e. even after
diddling the Tint control-- you may have a blown component on the little
'chroma board' usually attached to the back of the CRT. The blown component
causes the related color gun to be full ON all the time and wipes out other
colors. (The board usually has identical circuits for Red, Green, and Blue.)

     The component which often seems to blow is a small choke going to the
transistor which controls the color gun. A fix (for the IIgs RGB monitor)
which may work for your monitor is described in the newsgroup FAQs at ...

     An RGB monitor does not have a way to make sense of the composite output
from a VCR. So, there is no easy way to connect a IIgs RGB monitor to most
VCR's.
