It's a MIME issue, it looks like. His news reader saw the Copyright
character in the subject and decided not to transmit it as straight 8-bit,
but 7-bit Quoted-Printable. In Netscape, at least, you can change that in
Preferences:Mail and Newsgroups:Messages.
